This 4-layer chocolate chocolate chip cake was carved into a ship and covered with textured fondant. Fondant details (cannons, portholes, railings) were molded and added to the ship. Small cake scraps were covered with fondant for the shark and treasure chest. The pirate captain was hand molded from gumpaste and fondant, as were the the sails on the masts. Blue buttercream "water" was added to the cake board to finish off the cake.
