You gotta love being 5. When I asked the birthday girl what she wanted on her cake, she said "guinea pigs and rainbows!" This cake was for her birthday party at Zoomars petting zoo in San Juan Capistrano. The base cake was covered in graham cracker crumbs and edged with a gumpaste picket fence. Grass was piped in green buttercream on the top. The guinea pigs were created with 2 cupcakes each, placed on their sides. The cupcakes were put together with buttercream and more icing was piped over them to look like fur. Fondant ears, eyes, noses and feet were added to the finished critters.
