Manolo Blahnik Shoe for Cake (Gumpaste)

This shoe is good enough to eat!  The whole thing was made out of gumpaste and fondant using a pattern I designed myself.  The shoe was modeled after the Manolo "Sedaraby" pump.  It was made to sit on top of a designer "shoe box" shaped cake.  The buckle was made of fondant and covered with silver highlighter dust, edible glitter and course sugar crystals.  The label was hand lettered.  This is probably as close as I'll ever get to the real thing!

Candy Land Game Cake

This bright colored cake was the centerpiece for a birthday party at Powell's Candy Shop in Aliso Viejo.  A chocolate chocolate chip cake was covered in white fondant and covered in colorful candy details depicting the game Candy Land.  Backgrounds, mountains and greenery were added with icing, then the fondant path was added to mirror the Candy Land game board.  Fondant was hand cut to create cupcakes, ice cream cones, a gingerbread house, gingerbread men, snowflakes and chocolate bon bons around the sides of the cake.  Lollipops and person-shaped game board pieces were also made from fondant and added to the top of the cake.  Gumdrops were added the base to create a border around the bottom.  And various candies were added to the top: gumdrops, gummy bears, chocolate rocks, and starlight mints.

Pirate Ship Mini Cake and Cupcakes

This is a small version of my popular Pirate Ship Cake.  The cake was carved to resemble a ship and covered with textured fondant.  The ship was decorated with fondant port holes, a wheel and a "plank", piped writing, a fondant life preserver, and a treasure chest made from a fun size candy bar.  The sails were handmade from gumpaste and the pirate hand molded.  Two dozen cupcakes surrounded the ship with waves of white and blue and and even a few with shark fins.
